Listening to Counting Crows is wrong for anyone, even more so for someone with the wisdom of 43 years of misery...I mean August and Everything After dropped in '94 I believe, as I remember listening to it while making fun of Rory Cowie and his determination to do our entire leaf project.

So at 28, time and time again you found yourself musing over Mr. Jones, in some obscure place like Omaha far from the rain in Baltimore--and perhaps wondering what was happening round here.

Dude;

First I thank the Pacers for taking DunMurphy from our GSW and thanks for StackJack, I think.

In these bad times, a team that avoids draft busts and signing mistakes will be better than average and have trade-able assets. A lot of teams will be dumping players for salary this year. Get the house in order and stay away form home-run draft picks -- excellence is demonstrated. Trade for a all-star. That worked for the Celtics.

Da Bulls picked a guy at 16 with a high upside, Williams, who, if he can follow the coaching, play 4 and post up, will be a steal. At 13 the Pacers picked a guy with a high floor. He may not have the upside of Williams but is sure to contribute and is coach-able.

Great post. I don't think our signings this offseason have been 'big-splash' moves, but I disagree that they won't have an impact. Watson wasn't signed to be the PG of the future, so you have to view that move in the short term. I like Watson's PG ability more than Jack (short term). Jack is younger and more explosive, but is more a combo guard than a true PG. SJones brings shotblocking and energy. Dahntay Jones, I love as as signing. People say he's way overpaid, but I can live with a sub 3mil player who brings exactly what we need. We averaged 105 points and gave up 106. All 3 signings point to one focus this offseason: defensive toughness.
