8 years ago, my freshman year of college, I woke up with extreme vertigo. The doctor told me it was an inner ear infection. Then I lost some hearing. It took 4 or 5 months to be able to walk without holding on to something. The next winter (one year after the first incident) I had the exact same thing happen again. I soon found out that I had an autoimmune disease of the inner ear. I went completely deaf. While I can walk decently now without a holding on to things it is very difficult to play basketball. I really hope Tyler's illness isn't that bad. Obviously, he's not gone deaf, but those with autoimmunity don't always go deaf. Anyone know better now what the actual diagnosis is?

Thanks for the update. One thing I thought was weird is that I noticed Tyler Hansbrough at the Duke vs UNC Men's Basketball two weeks ago. I thought to myself if he has vertigo how could he have gone to the game? I guess I'm just curious.

Actually, it was avoidingtheclowns who brought it to my (and the rest of PD's) attention.

I think that's borrowing trouble unnecessarily, but it is a funky thing to have. I had kind of expected that he was done for the season, so I wasn't overly surprised.

Now, we just wait.
