In hindsight, I feel that in writing this piece, I left out a key stat- Defensive Rating. In my search to find lesser known statistics, I overlooked one of the most useful (and common) stats, which I didn't realize until reading the Pacer vs Celtics comparision table added on by Tim Donohue. This stat is really the most obvious evidence for Celtics' excellent defense.

Of course, the statistics that I provided no doubt add detail to some of the specific ways in which they go about playing defense, but I erred deeply by not including the Defensive Rating statistic in my original article. Quite a case of missing the forest for the trees!

It must also be kept in mind that in my article, I presented just a few of the reasons for the great Boston defense. I could've touched about the charge-drawing propensity of forward Glen Davis, gone more into detail regarding the Celtics' interior defense, etc. There is truly an enormous amount of information from which to pick and choose, and so I want to make it clear that there are indeed many reasons (perhaps even more important) for the great Boston defense, and that the statistics presented in the article do not in their entirety represent the totality of the Celtics' defensive schemes.

Sorry to be long-winded, but just wanted to clear some things up.
Go Pacers!,
Jay Ganatra
