I did some research and found that Steve is also a partner with Herb on the NBDL Reno franchise, as well as having been on the board of the Pacers LLC for a while. He is actively involved in a number of Indianapolis charities.

Lack of information that leads to a "down side" (if there is one) includes that I can't figure out if he lives in Indy at all or just on the West Coast. Simon Equity Partners is based in San Francisco, and a number of Steve's more "hip" charities are also California style.

I find it odd that his presence at the meeting has been somewhat dismissed by the media and fans. I think it is because he (like Herb for most of his years with Mel) is not the guy to want to be in the limelight at all, so he's flown under the radar as the possible next generation of Simon owners.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm very excited that Stephen Simon is taking an interest and appears to want an active role with the Pacers. I think this is a very positive sign towards seeing NBA basketball in Indianapolis for a long time to come.
