The Complete TrueHoop Network 2011 1st Round Mock Draft

On Tuesday, Jared selected Markieff Morris with the 15th pick.  Yesterday, I selected Marshon Brooks on the DDL Mock Draft, despite the fact that both Markieff and Marcus Morris were still on the board.

That’s not to say that I thoroughly disagreed with Jared, just that I was kind of unexcited with the options available at 15.  Truth be told, I actually wish I’d taken Markieff.

In any case, tonight, we’ll find out for real.  Will the Pacers go for a big?  Will they go for scoring?  Will they surprise?  Will they trade out?  Tonight, the speculation stops.

    Markieff or Brooks would be ok, but I think we should look for someone with a high basketball IQ who can score, both things I think we need. I am not particularly concerned about position. If Klay Thompson is available, as he was in that draft, I think we have to take him. But I don`t think he will be. I like Tobias Harris a lot, but he doesn`t seem to be in our plans. Marcus Morris and Jemmer also fit the description of what I would like to get. The only other one who caught my eye who doesn`t fit that description and probably won`t fall to us is Tristan Thompson, who seems like a good fit for us at power forward, in my mind better that Markieff. Although he did shoot 48 percent from the free throw line last year.
    But like every year our choice will bredecided by people picking in front of us, and someone we didn`t think possibe might become available.

    I think our choice will be decided by who other`s take, not bredecided, but I could be mistaken.

    I think we need a shooting guard, period. I know Jared believes that Paul George is a solid starter, but I can’t go along with that since George struggled mightily to score most of the year and only shot in the 20 percent range in the Chicago series. George is a defensive specialist off the bench until he can score on a consistent basis. I certainly hope he becomes a starter, but he’s not there yet.

    I literally ran into Tobias Harris at a downtown eatery after his workout with the Pacers. He was not nearly as big as I thought he would be.
