New Jersey managed to stay somewhat competitive for the first three quarters but Indiana outclassed them throughout, finally pulling away in the fourth for an easy 108-94 win. It was a refreshing turn of events for a Pacers offense that had been disastrous through its first four games. Tonight was the exact opposite as the team shot 52.6%, including 13-for-21 (61.9%) from three.

More than the accuracy, however, it was the ball movement that was encouraging. The team shared the ball to the point that Danny Granger even passed up two could-be shots in transition in favor of a more-open teammate. The half-court had its flaws still (finishing in the paint for example), but there were enough positive pick-and-rolls, post-ups and timely swing passes to alleviate the fears of Pacers fans who were dreading that the 2011 offense is what they would see all year.
Sure, it’s the Nets, but this was the first game since the opener that the team can really walk away feeling good about. Here is our assessment of each player’s game tonight.

I feel like this game was closer than it should have been for the first 3 quarters. Nets came up with a lot of loose balls, Granger still looks lost in the offense, hibbert was a non factor, and Paul George wasn’t that aggressive until garbage time. I know its going to take some time for everyone to click all at the same time, but i still feel we played in 2nd gear most of the night. Idk, maybe I expect too much too soon. Either way, bring on the heat!
I wonder why Hibbert cannot GET BIG down low. He (seemingly) has the size and ability but never takes it up strong.
There were too many times tonight where he had a sure dunk but either got it slapped away, blocked, or tried to reverse it like he’s a 6′ guard.
Two things I’m looking for from Lance Stephenson: dribble penetration and the telling pass.
One thing I’m not looking for: Lance taking shots. Is there anyone out there that still thinks he’s a better fit at shooting guard?
